Milestones to go before we sleep :)
Sitting up - with a little help from my friends: Sometime last week, Yo started sitting up for a few seconds without toppling over. This week he got better at it, and maintained his balance for a little longer. You can tell when he's about to go down - the drunk sailor sequence will begin.Rolling over: A couple days ago he was on his back, and I went to another room for a second. When I got back, he was on his tummy, looking around for some help to get back to status quo. Two days later, we're still awaiting a repeat performance.
Starting on solids - rice cereal: Gone are the good old days when parents mashed up a banana and fed it to their eager infant. Our journey was a little more involved. We prepped for opening night with several hours of reading, phone consultations, shopping (for bibs, spoons, rice cereal), disinfecting the high chair which had been awaiting its inauguration in the garage, disinfecting the items we bought for the big event, making sure the camera was charged .... phew.
It took about 30 minutes for Yo to down the one tablespoon of cereal. But it was, ahem, SOLIDly entertaining. He insisted on eating his bib, grabbing the bowl and making just the most comical faces at every spoonful. One spoonful (a small one, thankfully) was deposited in his eye and about a quarter of the bowl dribbled down is chin and onto the bib, but overall, he seemed to love rice cereal and momma and dada couldn't have been more thrilled.
All done!

A Happy Camper
The little guy has been smiling away in full force this past month. Quite a joy to see him when his face lights up. His uncle and aunt have been great in keeping him entertained - Ajit's got this head-shake thing that keeps him mesmerized for ages.
His Aunt Shanda knit him a cool Jester's Hat, complete with little bells and all. We also tried on an outfit that our friends Amol and Awanti gave him, and decided it would be perfect for the Toronto wedding.

Of Wiis and Mountains
We just got back from our family trip to Toronto, and there's lot of posting to be done. Will try to catch up over the next few days...
As soon as dad and mom arrived, mom was all set to head out and start some shopping. Dad, on the other hand, was quite content to stay at home, saying "theres no urgency to go loafing". When Aj and Tanya arrived a couple days later, though, we tried to make the most of the one week they were here.
We borrowed a Wii and various accoutrements from friends in time for the folks visiting, and everyone enjoyed it. Even mom got into the swing of things (pardon the pun).
The little fella got dedicated at church on Aug 17. Was nice to have the family around for this.

We did a couple day trips, one to the coast and one to Mt. Hood. Yo got to do a lot of firsts that week! We were planning on also taking him up the ski lift at Timberline on the Magic Mile Ride, but were advised against it since it was pretty cold up there. Susan stayed back at the lodge with him while the rest of the folks went up. Yo did pretty good on these trips, thankfully - could have had something to do with the fact there was no shortage of arms to be carrying him :)

Family Times
Been a long time again since we've posted. This past week saw the much-awaited arrival of Yo's grandparents and his uncle and aunt (who still aren't used to being called that). Dad and mom arrived Monday, and Ajit & Tanya arrived Wednesday evening. Yohan has been getting thoroughly spoiled, and he's enjoying all the attention. We (meaning Susan) is going to have a tough time when everyone leaves and there are 4 less pairs of hands to carry and play with the little fellow. For now, though, we're enjoying every minute.

Four Month (and a few) album
Wow - two posts in a day. A lot of other stuff must not be getting done...
Here's his four month album (we dipped a little into month 5 as well).

Catching up
It's been over a week since the last post - we're really slacking off here! This past week has been quite busy - Yo getting over his cold, doctors appointments, a couple picnics (one needs to make the most of our short summers!), a wedding/reception, and a baby shower. He seems to be over most of his cold, and we're really thankful for that. Was quite hard to watch him sniffle his way through a couple weeks. We went in on Wed for his 4 month shots - he did quite good with them again, thank God.
Last Sat a whole bunch of us went to Blue Lake Park for the Annual PDXGang Picnic. Was a beautiful day, and lots of fun was to be had.
Over the last month or so, Yo has been getting rather upset, to put it mildly, when people other than his beloved parents pick him up. Don't really know why, especially since we've been taking him out and about quite a lot. Stranger anxiety apprently doesn't usually set in till about 6 months, so this is a little early. His grandparents and uncle/aunt are going to be showing up in about a week; we're hoping he'll get used to them soon!
The little guy seems to be a toddler trapped in a 4 month old's body. He seems to want to play with the kids in the park or jump out of his swing and much prefers standing to lying down. He's super excitable, and wants to wriggle and pull and grab at every opportunity. No calm baby moments for him!
