We've been trying to teach Mika that dada and anna are boys, and she and mamma are girls; in line with doing everything like big bro, she keeps insisting that she is a 'bai' too.
She also has a very French way of saying anything that starts with 'h'; essentially that initial 'h' is silent, leading to:
heart = 'art'
hot = 'ot' (French-Mallu, perhaps :)
head = 'ed'
hat = 'at'
We're slowly coming to the realization that McQueen and his buddies are going to be part of our lives for a year or two more. At least. At the very least. (Is it okay for mammas and dadas to whine? Coz now would be as good a time as any!).
Yohan always assumes the role of director and lead actor (Lightning McQueen) when he plays with his cars. But that means he needs people to direct. That's where the less-than-thrilled cast of parents and sibling come into the picture.
He's watched the Cars movie only twice but he can't get enough of these little Disney addictions!
Now if only he'd display the same passion for learning his numbers and his alphabets! Only a kid can make "Valentime" one of the numbers!
The weather people on all the local channels predicted three inches of snow couple days ago. And finally they were right! Well, almost... we had about an inch of a fresh, white carpet and for Oregon that meant everything closes... no school, no work, just play.
We bundled the kids in their snow gear and mommy and kids were super excited to build a snow man (or woman... all our accessories were girly. What to do?). The neighborhood kids were out and with considerable help from Hannah and Ava, we got snow-girl up on our front lawn as well as an eye-less snow-boy. Yohan also got a sled ride thanks to our new teenage (possibly babysitter for the future) neighbor, Natalie.
And as the boy very aptly put it: "Mama, the sky is falling".
Yo came home from "pre-school" the other day with an assignment to make cards for all his classmates for Valentine's Day. Mamma worked him on it through the rest of the week, and here are the results. I thought it was all very creative!
A few weeks ago we trooped over to Seattle - and hit upon the trick to travel: set out once the kids are asleep. We did both ways in 3 hours each, which was so much better than 5+ hours the last couple times we went there.
