Summer Fun with the Grandparents

Every morning, the kids get a lungi-hammock ride with appapa, followed by excessive spoiling through the day from doting grandparents. The kids are loving the attention and we've had some wonderful family time over the last three weeks. We've had birthday parties to attend, a special tapas meal, picnics and boat rides at Blue Lake, berry picking, shopping, a visit to the Lavendar Farm, views of the Airshow, a tour of dada's office, farmer's Market, not to mention trying out different kinds of cuisine (from food trucks grub to olive oil icecream) followed by the Georges (and their daughter) commiserating over pounds gained.

Father and Son

Checked shirts, beige cargo shorts and the geek factor - could these two be related?

Yo's First Theater Experience

Yo's playgroup friend hosted a movie birthday party with the kids treated to "Despicable Me 2." It was our man's first time ever in a movie theater and he climbed into dada's lap for more than one scene that didn't take his fancy. He came back quite proud of his movie-watching abilities :)

Kid #1: Training wheels are off!

This evening our man transitioned rather rapidly from requiring both training wheels on his bicycle to cruising along without any help!

California 2013

Our California trip was one awesome ride. Literally. We embarked on our longest ever road trip. Seven hours to Crescent City, CA. And another 6 hours through the Redwoods to see the cousin and grandparents. While we oohed over the impressive Redwoods, Yo was quite certain that we should stop looking at trees and head straight over to see his cousins!

The reunion was as expected: we lost our kids to grandparents and cousins for the week.

After three days of fun, food and chaos we drove three hours to the sparkling Lake Tahoe for July 4. While Pia and family set up home in the campgrounds with their Bible study group, we booked a hotel in town - us townies haven't yet learned the fine art of roughing it out. The kids had a blast on the beach and all of us had turns kayaking after we tucked into some kebabs grilled on the beach. Yummo. Another 12 hours in the minivan with a stop in Ashland and we were back home with ammama and appapa in tow.

And here is the full feature-length play produced by Cousin Z.

The little gardeners

Mamma got some new pots in the front and back yards this spring, in an attempt to beautify the surroundings. The kids have been drafted as water boy and girl, and they water not only the flora but themselves as well.

Mama also got some pretty cool pics of a hummingbird in action in the yard.
