Easter 2014

Easter 2014 featured the usual dressing up for photo ops, church services, egg hunts, baking resurrection rolls and eating lots!

Assembling Resurrection rolls... marshmallow plus spices and butter equates to anointed body. The roll is the tomb.

Empty tomb! :)

Leprecauns

M regaling her audience with a tale from school...

First belt test

Both munchkins are going great with their TWD lessons. M prides herself on being the loudest in the class and Y is quite aware that is he is one of the higher belt students in their batch. It was M's first belt test last month and she did awesome.

Road Trip!!

Spring Break saw the Narjalas cruising down 1-5 on our longest ever road trip.

First stop was Pleasanton to visit the cousins, after about 11 hours on the road. After a good bout of wrestling, giggling and a stop for mini-golf and water guns for about 1.5 days, we drove 8 hours to San Diego.

Goofy Kids

Pit stop during mini golf

Our little princess was quite surprised that there wasn't 'sand' in SANDiego. And anna was shocked that 'Sea World' was actually all land. Dada was blown away by how overpriced snacks were at theme parks. But, overall, Shamu and the dolphins and seals had us spell bound.

Most colorful kids at Sea World. Shamu soft toy and Sea World backpack make an appearance.
Exuberant whales

At the actual sea world, with actual sand

Day 2 saw us visiting the real world - seals sunning themselves at La Jolla coves and tidepools of Point Loma - which left the kids a bit underwhelmed after the antics of Shamu. Pool time at our hotel made up for boring old nature, though!! Yohan got to celebrate turning 6 with some Mexican food followed by his first (dis)taste of flan.

La Jolla Coves

Oh yeah, I'm six! (Don't miss the tie on his shirt :))

Point Loma tidepools

Day 3 was all about legos!

Yo and dada faking smiles before a roller coaster ride. (Nice t-shirt dada. Or maybe your wife has good taste ;))

I may be six. But I now have my driver's license.

Back to the cousins' place (with a brief stop in LA) the highlight of which was Yo getting to cut a birthday cake with them! Eleven hours and a grand total of 2400 miles later, we were back home.

Cake time!

Thank you God for trusty, roomy, comfy mini vans for 40 hours on the road!

P.S. Full album and videos to follow.

Yo Turns 6!!

It's better mommy doesn't take the senti route on this one, or she'll dissolve into a puddle of tears that her first born is 6 years old!

He's a little guy who is sweet and kind and funny and really really smart and creative. He wakes up at the crack of dawn, spends his mornings reading the Bible and playing till his parents think it's a more reasonable time to arise, and is off to school and play. Back home for lunch and more play with some Taekwondo and homework thrown in. Nice life, little fella!! He loves learning about bugs, plants and planets, spends hours playing with his soft toys, prances and pounces like a cheetah, tries about 30 times a day to scare his mom, bullies his sister occasionally, and gets lost in his world of books and legos. He will never turn down Mc D Happy Meals and anything chocolate. He is reading like a champ now, writes without spaces between words and know way more about animals and American presidents than his parents.

He wanted a lego party his year. We invited some of his buddies from playgroup and school and they spent time building and creating and he got to cut a cake with his name spelled out in lego candy letters!
