The Ballerina

Malaika was sure she wanted to join ballet classes. Once a week, she gets to pack her pink ballet leotard and pink ballet slippers in her pink bag and head to a nearby "dance academy" :) Unfortunately, we've had to stay put in the waiting room watching through tinted glass as she twirls and whirls. So, no good pics of her in action, and the video has quite a bit of reflection from the glass.

Valentine's!

Pre-schoolers make "Valentime's" day super fun. Celebrations started with a Sunday pancake breakfast and crafts at their school church service. Malaika also got to join big bro on stage for some singing during service - for her first time, she did awesome...no signs of stage fright at all.

We spent some time making and signing Valentine cards for their classmates at school and both kids has small class parties with candy, cookies, red fruit and what not.

On V-day we had some friends over for a playdate and the kids got to make their own heart-shaped pizzas, drink strawberry milk and eat heart-shaped cookies.

This little light of mine

Last Sunday the church where the kids go to pre-school had a pancake breakfast as well as a special service where the kids got to sign. They both did great. This was Mika's first public performance, and she had absolutely no stage fright - just marched right up to the stage and took the front row spot.

Punishment

Not sure where these up-and-coming parents get their disciplinary ideas from. Certainly not from their loving and gracious parents.

Karate Kid

Last week saw the emerging of the li'l ninja - Yohan at his first Taekwondo lessons. The boy put up a brave face despite all the loud yelling in the class and did magnificently well. Incredibly cute doesn't begin to describe him in his too-big-for-him uniform. As for his jumping jacks and hip rotations - hilariously adorable. But he did an awesome job focusing and he absolutely loves the class. Mamma especially likes Master Lee's command for the last set of punches in the video.

Indoor Picnic

Last Tuesday the kids and I didn't have to be anywhere in the morning. So I let myself breathe and enjoy some time with them, packing them an "indoor picnic" for a cold winter's morning: we wrapped up sandwiches and goodies and put them in backpacks. They pretended we were hiking and we finally came to a picnic spot by a lake. Then we were in a boat on the lake and sometimes we fell in the lake. Love their little imaginations.

Cross-carpet skiing

Certainly no lack of imagination in these kiddos. A couple curtain rods and pieces of trim, combined with scenes of a little snow on the roads as we drove back home from church, and carpet skiing was born.
