Yo's 1 year stats

Height: 29 inches
Weight: 19 lbs 4 oz

He also got 4 shots on his arms today, and he wasn't a happy camper after that. Recovered pretty quickly though.

Yo's First Birthday party

Yohan's first birthday party was held yesterday at Munchkin playland, which, as the name suggests, is a cute little play area for kids near our house. He had a great time, and enjoyed the carrot cake his mamma baked for him. We were even able to stream the whole party live to his grandparents in India, so they were able to "virtually" participate too!

Here are some pics (courtesty Chetan and Prakash):

Being silly with mom (giggles are thrown in for good measure)

A couple nights ago he wasn't sleepy at all post bedtime routine, so he came downstairs in his sleep sack - turned out to be more like his royal robe.

Yo = 1 (as his Gampa puts it)

You sure have come a long way, little fella. Praise God for a healthy, happy little munchkin. Happy 1st Birthday!

And here's also wishing FCOR Prakash a very happy 18th birthday!

Mommy and Me

Susan is in charge of the little man's attire, and it certainly shows! He's always dressed in spiffy outfits, and every now and then momma and he wear complementary colors.

Susan also organized a mini-1st-birthday celebration for Yo and one of his playgroup buddies last week. I won't put up a close-up pic of the excellent cake that she baked, since a version 2 of that will be inaugurated at his birthday party, and we'll let that be a surprise.

Yo's toys are for the most part stored in plastic containers, and every day he gets one of two boxes to play with for the day. What comes out must go in, and Susan's taught him to thrown his toys back in the bin when it's time to pack up. Will put up a video of that shortly - very cute to see him do that.

And we're walking, people!

Yo's growth and development over the last year has been quite amazing to watch. From not being able to turn over, to doing that, and then sitting up, to crawling (first backwards, then forwards), to standing up, to standing without support - and now walking a few steps by himself - it's just incredible to see the progress babies make. God sure is amazing to have built us like this.

Yo started taking a few steps by himself last weekend while we were in Seattle. Even in this past few days he's becoming more confident about doing it on his own. He's also understanding a lot more these days - Susan taught him to give a flying kiss, a high-five, and to point to his nose (sorta). It's hard to get all this on tape, since the moment we bring the camera out all he wants to do is get it in his hands. We've been lucky to catch a few moments - here we go.

Baby #2 Ultrasound #2

Last month (Feb 19, to be precise) we had the second ultrasound for Baby #2. The first one was in India, but we couldn't see anything then. This time I thought we could see things in much more detail than I remember for Yo, though Susan says it was the same.

I've been holding off on this post till I could scan the pics the technician gave us, but our machine at home is broken, and I realized yesterday the scanner at work just doesn't have the resolution to do this. So the pics will have to wait till I can fix our home machine. In the meantime, you'll have to make do with my describing it to you.

This baby was all relaxed and chill - he/she was on it's back, like on a hammock, and the little arms were tucked under the chin. We could see the outline of the feet, and the little hands. Was quite cool. Can't wait till we find out if it's a boy or a girl, and then the naming debate will begin!

Waxing Eloquent

Multiply what you see below by most of Yo's waking hours, and you'll get a good idea of ambient noise levels in the Narjala home.

Step by step

Yo's slowly making progress towards the I Can Walk milestone. We got a little scooter-ish thingy from good 'ol Craigslist, and he happily uses that to get places.

(Video embedded. Bonus dance footage in addition to the walking stuff.)

Talking about Craigslist, we also got a couple baby gates now that our man is getting mobile-er every day. He is now contained, for the most part, in his very own private gated community.
