The Proposal...

... is the name of the movie that Susan and I got to see this weekend while Ammama watched the young'un. This was just the second theatre movie for us since the boy was born - the first one was 'Australia', which we saw in Madras in Jan (again while Ammama was chief babysitter).

I think Ammama needs to visit more often.

Funny toddler stuff

We typically show Yo his own videos at meal times to keep him entertained and distracted enough to eat. We also check out YouTube when the Yo video collection is exhausted - and we came across this. Hilarious.

And we've got a few months to teach Yo how to do this:

Our family is growing

True to the title of this blog, we have another one on the way! We found out in early Jan, and we're quite excited - again! The new one is due Aug 30. We were not busy enough with 1, so we figured we'd add a little something to the mix :)

Yo will be about a year and a half when the new arrival shows up, and it will be very interesting to see how he reacts. Susan has been having a tough first trimester so far, but says it's getting better now. She's going to have her hands full(er) in a few months.

We had an ultrasound in India, and the next one is coming up in a couple weeks. At this next one we get to "see" the baby - it's like deja-vu, but the excitement is very much there!

Settling in

It's been a week since we got back, and it looks like things are starting to get back to normal. Yo's doing much better, thank God, and we're looking forward to him getting back to 100% soon.

I got back to work Thu last week, and this was what my cube looked like.

As per Intel tradition, the sabbatical-returnee is welcomed back with a "decorated" cube. The more time it takes the returnee to "un-decorate" on their first day back, the better.

From mini-car...

... to mini-van!

Susan's car is in the shop for a week for some minor repairs, and we got a somewhat larger rental replacement... She was a little nervous taking this out for a spin considering she's never driven anything larger than a Golf, but thanks to power seats and seat cushions she did great.

She's now officially a bonafide mini(-van) mom!

Note on Email Subscriptions

I just noticed that things like videos and slideshows that we embed on this blog don't show up in the emails that are sent out to those who are subscribed that way. I'll make sure to add a footnote indicating such media has been included, and you'll have to click through to the actual website to then see it.

Along these lines: the last blog post, "An Early Morning Person", had a video of the little dude.

Feeds (the RSS kind)

This blog, even with as interesting a subject as The Boy Yohan, doesn't get new content everyday. To help cope with the disappointment that must surely come with checking this page and not seeing any new content, I've added a couple features for you, the dear Reader.
  1. Subscribe via Email: Type in your email address, and you'll be notified whenever theres a post.
  2. Subscribe in an RSS Reader
(Links for both options are available on the top right of this blog's main page.)

What is RSS, you might ask. To put it briefly, it enables a one-stop shop for your internet content. Instead of visiting all your news sites and your favorite blogs individually, you fire up your RSS reader, and the content that you've subscribed for is all there. Kind-of like an inbox for the web. There are either browser-based RSS readers (I use Google Reader and love it!), or standalone readers you can install on your computer. If this is something you're interested in and would like to learn more, feel free to shoot me an email, and I'll be glad to help!

Heres an excellent video from the folks at Common Craft that explains 'RSS in plain English'.

Book Giveaway

I hardly ever win anything in a raffle, so it made my day when Pastor Matt announced that I was the recipient of the book 'Safely Home' in a book giveaway that he hosted on his blog! Looking forward to reading this as well as 'Mere Christianity' soon.

New Beginnings

The blog world has existed for awhile, and I've been an avid reader. I've oft considered the possibility of starting my own and putting my thoughts down on paper for the world to see, but that idea quickly petered out each time for lack of a good answer to the question "why?".

I have a reason now - and his name is Yohan Philip Narjala. This little guy was born on March 26 2008, and Susan and I want to be able to capture some of his precious moments for posterity. We hope to periodically put up some pics and videos of Mr. Y in action. Lets see where this journey takes us :)
