Marina Beach

We headed out to Chennai's favorite beach/ public bathroom/ secret lovers' hangout a few evenings ago. It was Mika's first trip to the beach. She didn't seem to think much of the whole experience and wore a somewhat worried expression the whole time. She looked like a mini Lawrence of Arabia with the head gear that Ammama made her wear.

Yo has been to the beach in Oregon couple times, but this was the first time he seemed to grasp that a beach meant the presence of "wa-wa" (water). Mamma didn't let him dip his feet in the great wide Bay of Bengal though - her NRI mind kept going back to the public restroom aspect of it. He did enjoy looking at the horses, chasing the ka-kas (crows), and bought a balloon from a young vendor who handed Yo the balloon and then looked expectantly at the grandparents for the payment before anyone knew what was happening.

We ate samosas, enjoyed the supposedly unpolluted air and promised to go back soon with more food in our picnic basket.
